Critical Server Programs- Detailed Instructions

There are a three programs that always need to be running on the server for Cielo to run properly.

The three programs in order of their icons displayed in the image are:

  1. FileMaker Pro Advanced
  2. BareTail
  3. Ruby Fidelio Module

Ruby Fidelio Module: This module is what enables the Cielo-Opera 2-direction communication to occur.  This is critical for Cielo to receive and send any data to the hotel's property management system.

If you ever see that the Command Prompt window is not displayed on the server, start the following steps as soon as possible.

To start the Ruby Fidelio Module follow these steps:

Open the Command Prompt within the Start menu on the server by typing "command prompt" into the search bar.  Then click on Command Prompt.

Once command prompt is open, type in cd desktop and press enter.

Next type in "ruby Fidelio_Module.rb"  and press enter.

Once the above steps have been completed successfully, Ruby is running.  The command prompt should like similar to this image.

To see detailed information on the communication between the hotel's property management system and Cielo, open the BareTail program.

To start BareTail find this icon on your desktop.  If you can't find this icon, simply open the start menu and type in BareTail in the search menu, and then select Baretail.

The Baretail window looks like this when opened.

Baretail constantly updates with information from the interfaces.  You can see specific times that hotel information was either sent to or from Cielo or Opera from this window by scrolling through the data displayed.

Below you can see that both interfaces are running, however no data has been received at this moment.

In the picture below, the system received data.

If the interfaces were down and you had to start Ruby and Baretail, it is highly suggested to run a database resync to ensure all of the data is current.   To do this you can use any desktop with FileMaker installed or FileMaker on the server.

All managers have the ability to conduct a system Resync.

Simply login to Cielo through FileMaker using your login credentials by double clicking on the most recent version of Cielo on the desktop.

Next,  enter your login credentials and press OK.

Once you are logged in, click start.

If the interfaces are both green and displaying OK|OK you know that both interfaces are up and running.

If these buttons are not both green, completing a Resync will not do anything because there are still issues with the interface.  If Ruby is running, then it is most likely an Opera outage. This issue will need to be addressed on the property level with the Opera interface center.

If the buttons are green, then to continue with your Resync click the Resync button in the top right corner of your screen.

Click "Resync" once the pop-up Resync confirmation window appears.

Then, press OK.

At this point, the resync has begun. You can be sure that the resync is underway by looking at the BareTail window.  If you see a rapid rush of information ending with the letters SF, then the resync is in progress. Once this rush of information ends, you will know the resync has ended.
